Keeping the Momentum: Adjusting to the Challenges of Immigration
Reform in the AAPI Community (9:30 am-10:45 am)
This program will provide a brief overview on Immigration Reform including new legislation including the DREAM Act; discuss best practices on effective outreach and pro bono representation; and the importance of protecting the AAPI community from predatory “experts” who engage in the unauthorized practice of law. The MinKwon model for community partnerships will be featured as well as local practice in Missouri.

The Future of Healthcare for the AAPI Community: Implementation of the Affordable Care Act and its Impact on AAPI Community (11:00 am-12:15 pm)
This program will provide an update on implementation of the Affordable Care Act, including health insurance exchanges with a focus on enrolling members of the APA community; discuss the unique challenges to implementing the Act with the AAPI community including LEP and cultural barriers; and highlight the need for outreach and pro bono, especially for states with newly emerging AAPI communities.
